Culture & Identity · A reflection game

The Matrix Game

Every culture hands us a set of rules we never agreed to. This game helps you look at them honestly — and decide, for yourself, what to carry forward and what to put down.

🖥

How to play

In the same room? Both players use one screen together. The game manages whose turn it is.
Playing remotely? Share your screen on a video call — WhatsApp, FaceTime, Zoom or Meet. One person hosts, both play from the same view. Or try our room link (beta) →

⏱ 45–90 minutes solo · 60–120 minutes group · Sacred conversations rarely keep to time

Nothing is stored. All reflections are private.

Before we begin

The Sacred Space

1

No judgement of culture — only honest examination

This game is not about condemning any culture, tradition or family. It is about understanding what you have inherited — and deciding, consciously, what to carry forward.

2

What is said here stays here

Especially in family or mixed groups: nothing shared in this game becomes a weapon in future conversations. Agree to this before you begin.

3

Every perspective is valid — even one you disagree with

An elder or forebear's perspective and a young person's perspective are both real. Neither cancels the other. The game works because everyone speaks honestly.

4

You may always pass

Any question can be skipped. No explanation required. The skip itself is information you can sit with privately.

5

Change is personal — not required

This game does not require anyone to change. It requires honest reflection. What each person does with that reflection is entirely their own.

We have read the Sacred Space rules and agree to hold this with care.

Player setup

Who is playing?

Each player selects their persona and cultural lens. These shape the questions you receive.

Before the game

The Change Equation

C = D × V × F > R

C = Change  ·  D = Dissatisfaction with the current state  ·  V = Vision of what is possible

F = First steps that feel concrete  ·  R = Resistance to change

Rate yourself honestly on each factor — 1 (very low) to 10 (very high). We will ask again after the game to see what shifted.

Round 1

Your reflection (optional — just for you)

After the game

Has anything shifted?

Rate yourself again on the same factors. There are no right answers — only honest ones.

Your reflections

What you found.

If this opened something

The inherited scripts you examined today — the cultural rules, the expectations, the unspoken agreements — are at the heart of Who Told You That?. The book has a full chapter on the Inherited Script and tools to rewrite it on your own terms.

Paused. Breathe.

If something surfaced that you need a moment with — take it. There is no rush. The game will be here.
