THE CRITIC

The Critic · A game of internal argument

Everyone is welcome. However this game is built for the argument men have with themselves and rarely say out loud.

Most men carry this argument silently for years. This is the first time it gets said out loud — and the first time you find out who actually wins.

What this game is for

To help you notice how you respond when the inner critic speaks — where you push back, where you agree, where you deflect. That's the practice.

This is not a diagnosis. It is not a personality test. There is no fixed conclusion about who you are at the end. The verdict reflects only the choices you made in this game, in this scenario, today. Different scenario, different day — different verdict.

Choose a real scenario. The critic speaks first. You respond. It pushes back. The negotiation runs 5 rounds. At the end — you see how you held the line, where you didn't, and three concrete moves from here.

A note on the scenario

This verdict is not a diagnosis. It reflects only the choices you made in this scenario, today.

If something here doesn't feel right — or feels too right and you're tempted to dismiss it — try this before you decide: read it to someone who knows you well. The patterns the critic runs are often the hardest to see in ourselves. Sometimes the people closest to us see them first.

The Evidence File · Add an entry now

The Evidence File is a personal record of real experiences, moments, and outcomes that directly disprove the negative beliefs you hold about yourself. Not affirmations — evidence. Things that actually happened. The critic ignores them. You are putting them on record.

Right now, before you leave this page: looking back at the game you just played — a response you chose, a moment you pushed back, something the critic said that you didn't believe — write one thing here that contradicts what the critic claimed about you.

One sentence is enough. You can come back later — from your account — and add more entries any time. The file is meant to grow.

The pattern that voice runs on you has a name in Who Told You That?. Understanding how inherited scripts become the inner critic — and how to dismantle them — is what the book is built around.
